Chronic Illness Care in NW Portland, Oregon
Living with a chronic illness often feels exhausting and isolating. Many patients come to me after trying every conventional option they’ve been offered, yet they still feel worn down, foggy, irritable, or simply “not themselves.” Even when they know that certain lifestyle changes might help, they feel stuck. They want a path forward but don’t know how to begin.
At Portland Holistic Medicine, I blend naturopathic care, Chinese medicine, and mind-body approaches to support people who are ready to feel better but need a partner to help them get there. I use supportive therapies such as acupuncture, homeopathy, nutritional counseling, and emotional balancing to help remove the blocks that get in the way of healing and better self-care. This combination often allows people to shift out of long-standing patterns and finally experience meaningful relief.
Chronic illnesses rarely come from a single cause. Conditions like chronic fatigue, migraines, autoimmune disorders, and long-standing digestive issues usually involve many layers, from hormone imbalance to stress, nutrient depletion, infections, trauma, or environmental triggers. That’s why I focus on understanding each patient’s complete picture. Diagnostic testing, targeted treatment plans, energetic medicine, and supportive lifestyle changes all work together to restore balance.
Whenever helpful, I collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, and other practitioners to ensure you receive comprehensive, well-coordinated care. My goal is to treat the whole person—not just the diagnosis—so you can move toward long-term, sustainable health.

When we first came to see Dr. Rubiales, my daughter Liz really felt there was little hope to feel better and nothing she could do to control her life and headaches. Jump ahead to the present and with no small thanks to Dr. Rubiales, she lives much more pain free, she is empowered to control her reaction to pain, and she is much more positive! Thank you does seem inadequate! We are thankful for Dr. Rubiales being such a blessing and role model in our lives.
