Dr. Rubiales, ND, LAc
As a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist practicing in Portland, Oregon, I specialize in integrating Chinese, naturopathic and mind-body medicine.
While pre-med in undergrad, I became frustrated with the limitations of conventional medicine. This led me to study a more holistic approach to medicine. A graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, I have a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine.
My practice is based on the principles of first doing no harm and identifying the cause of illness. To identify the cause of illness, I often take time to do comprehensive functional medicine diagnostic workups.
I am of Cuban heritage and fluent in Spanish. Growing up in a bilingual and bi-cultural household and then studying Cultural Anthropology enables me to incorporate patients’ cultural backgrounds and beliefs into their treatments.
I provide trauma informed patient centered care that addresses the whole person including body, mind, spirit and relationships. I like to collaborate with patients as a team to create a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan. I have a special interest and passion for helping people with PTSD.
I incorporate a variety of techniques into my treatment plan including acupuncture, Chinese herbs, bio-identical hormones, craniosacral therapy, mind-body medicine, counseling, homeopathy, nutrition and pharmaceutical medicines when necessary. I often find that Chinese medicine and acupuncture support people in making better self-care choices.
